City of Fairfax police made five arrests after a chaotic larceny incident at Ace Hardware on Main Street escalated into an officer assault. The incident took place on November 5, when officers responded to reports of a theft involving five individuals at the hardware store. Officers quickly located the suspects nearby and initiated a traffic stop, but as they approached, the driver attempted to evade capture with violence.
According to reports, as an officer approached the stopped vehicle, the driver suddenly reversed, striking a motor officer who was assisting with the stop. Though the officer sustained only minor injuries, the driver sped away, fleeing the scene and crossing into Fairfax County. The city police, with support from Fairfax County Police, soon located the suspects and took all five into custody.
The investigation revealed that Ryan Leonard, 32, of Parkville, MD, was the driver and was in possession of narcotics and a stolen firearm. Leonard faces multiple felony charges, including attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
In addition, suspect Lyric Bowers, 28, of Halethorpe, MD, had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation and now also faces grand larceny charges. The remaining suspects—Breanna Gorman Berg, 19, of Largo, FL; Carroll Hall, 41, of Baltimore, MD; and Donte Claytou, 34, of no fixed address—were charged with grand larceny. All five suspects are currently held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
