The City of Fairfax Commission for Women is holding a diaper drive Nov. 6-17.
The commission welcomes new, unopened packages of diapers of all sizes at two drop-off locations:
- Fairfax City Hall Atrium, 10455 Armstrong St.
- open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays
- Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Blenheim Blvd.
- open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, excluding holidays
From 5:30-7 p.m. on Nov. 7, Commission for Women members will be at City Hall accepting cash donations for the drive.

- A healthy infant will wear as many as 12 diapers per day.
- Nearly half of all local families struggle with diaper insecurity
- Government safety net programs like WIC and SNAP do not cover the cost of diapers.
- Without an adequate diaper supply, children are more likely to experience distress.
- On average, working parents miss more than five days of work per month because they do not have sufficient diapers to send their children to school or daycare.
- Babies without clean diapers are exposed to more potential health risks.
