Celebrate the Holidays in Fairfax City

Holiday Market: Dec. 1-3 and Dec. 8-10 • Old Town Square, 10415 North St. • Free Admission

Support your local artist and shop for the holidays with local merchants and craft vendors (which vary each weekend — bringing you a variety of vendors to check out. While you’re shopping, enjoy the sounds of live music, dance, and more. Free admission.

Friday, Dec. 1

A Holly Jolly Bronze Holiday Concert • 8 p.m. • Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Blenheim Blvd.

Enjoy a lovely selection of holiday music in a wide variety of styles, including traditional Christmas pieces arranged specifically for hand bells.  The program will include beloved holiday classics. Cost: $15 general admission; tickets are available at the door or online at MusicToFree.org/BronzeUnlimited.htm.

The event is supported by a grant from the City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts.

Saturday, Dec. 2

Pancake Breakfast with Santa • 8-11 a.m. • Fire Station 3, 4081 University Drive

Santa Wants YOU to join the fun at the annual Pancake Breakfast with Santa hosted by Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department. At this jolly event, Santa’s helpers will serve special-recipe pancakes and sausages. Then, walk off breakfast with a fire station tour, find out more about raffles, and take a photo with Santa. Festival of Lights and Carols • noon to 6 p.m. • Old Town Square • Free

Come listen to live holiday music and enjoy s’mores and hot cider.

From noon to 4 p.m., build a gingerbread house with the Historic Resources Office to donate to a local family shelter.

At 5:30 p.m., enjoy caroling and lighting of the Christmas Tree at 5:30 p.m. in Old Town Square.

Sunday, Dec. 3

A Victorian Christmas with Santa • Noon to 4 p.m. • Civil War Interpretive Center at Historic Blenheim, 3610 Blenheim Blvd. • Free

Meet a Victorian Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. Create handmade ornaments and help make a goose feather Christmas tree — the first type of artificial holiday trees. Look at and play with games and toys of the 19th century. Take a guided tour of the Historic Blenheim house and talk to a Civil War soldier about camp life at Christmas time.

Main Street Community Band Home for the Holidays Concert • 4-5 p.m. • Katherine Johnson Middle School, 3801 Jermantown Road

It’s time to celebrate the holidays, our art community, and all that was accomplished in 2023! Bring your holiday cheer and a friend and join the celebration.

Holiday-Focused Guided Tours of the Ratcliffe-Allison-Pozer House • Noon to 3 p.m. • 10386 Main St. • Free

Take a free tour the exhibition, Kitty Barrett Pozer: A Life to Honor, and learn about holiday customs from time periods related to the house’s many owners and residents.

Then shop for special holiday gifts at Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center, 10209 Main Street, open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  daily (excluding holidays).
