FAIRFAX CITY, Va. — A man is facing robbery and malicious wounding charges after police say he violently assaulted another man and stole his cell phone Saturday evening in Fairfax City.
According to the City of Fairfax Police Department, officers responded around 6:30 p.m. on July 12 to the area of Blenheim Boulevard and Old Pickett Road after receiving a report of an assault in progress.
Investigators say the victim was waiting in a parking lot for family members when he was approached by a man he did not know. Police said the suspect was screaming at the victim before throwing him to the ground and punching him in the face multiple times. The suspect then allegedly took the victim’s cell phone and fled the area.
Officers quickly searched the surrounding neighborhood and located a man nearby who matched the suspect’s description. Police said the man was found with the victim’s cell phone in his possession and was taken into custody.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries and was later released.
Police arrested Blair Tyrone Fleming, 37, of no fixed address, and charged him with robbery and malicious wounding. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
