Fairfax Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Neighbor With Knife

A 19-year-old Fairfax man is facing assault charges after allegedly threatening a neighbor with a knife earlier this week in a residential apartment complex.

The incident happened around 7:43 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, in the 4000 block of Gateway Drive. According to City of Fairfax Police, a resident was walking their dog when a man suddenly ran out of an elevator, brandished a knife, and threatened them before fleeing the scene. Thankfully, the victim was not injured.

Detectives with the City’s Criminal Investigations Division quickly identified the suspect as Gervin Cruz-Corea, who lives in Fairfax. A warrant was obtained, and Cruz-Corea was arrested on September 4. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with one count of assault. He is currently being held on a secure bond.
