CITY OF FAIRFAX — A routine call about an intoxicated driver turned into an arrest for abduction on October 5, 2024. Police officers responded to a report near Old Fire Station 3, located at 3988 University Dr., where they spotted a vehicle driving erratically.
During the traffic stop, officers noticed a female passenger calling for help. Their investigation revealed that the driver, identified as James Buis, 49, and the woman knew each other. It was determined that Buis had assaulted the passenger and prevented her from leaving the vehicle. Buis was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Buis, who has no fixed address, was arrested and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He faces multiple charges, including Abduction, Assault, DUI, and two counts of Obstruction of Justice. He is currently being held without bond.
