The City of Fairfax Fire Department has revolutionized its community fire safety education delivery by acquiring a state-of-the-art Fire Safety Simulator.

This innovative tool provides an immersive learning experience for participants of all ages that empowers them to develop and improve critical thinking, physical activity, hazard recognition, and safe practices.

The Fire Safety Simulator is housed in a specially designed trailer that provides a motion-activated, self-guided experience with inclusive access. The fire department can cater to the community’s specific needs with the simulator’s customized hazard activities, powered by advanced programming and a robust tablet control system.

The simulator marks a significant milestone in the fire department’s commitment to enhancing community safety. Through its inclusive design and tailored educational content, the simulator helps users develop essential fire safety skills and awareness and fosters hazard recognition and safe practices, reducing the risk of fire-related incidents. This groundbreaking solution solves various shortfalls in traditional fire safety trailers, including staffing concerns, operational needs, power consumption, design efficiency, safety, and inclusive access.

“This Fire Safety Simulator, developed in collaboration with JHB Group, represents a significant leap forward in our efforts to educate the community about fire safety,” said Chief Steven Sites. “It not only addresses the limitations of traditional methods, but also ensures that our education initiatives are inclusive, dynamic, and tailored to the unique needs of Fairfax.”

The City of Fairfax Fire Department plans to announce opportunities for the community to experience the Fire Safety Simulator and participate in this groundbreaking approach to fire safety education — watch the city website for more information.
