The City of Fairfax is constructing a sidewalk along the east side of Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) between Jenny Lynne Lane and Kenmore Drive. The new 530-foot sidewalk and 130-foot retaining wall will connect to existing sidewalks to the north and south and provide a safe, continuous pedestrian path between Old Town Fairfax and Northfax.
In addition to the new sidewalk, the existing pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Chain Bridge Road and Cedar Avenue will be moved from the south side to the north side.
Construction is anticipated to be completed by late July. Construction activity in the roadway is allowed from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. Construction activity not in the roadway is allowed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. These hours may be modified by the project manager. Work is not anticipated to occur on the weekends.
